Holistic Approach

The uniqueness of the person at the center of the holistic vision as a strategy of support and/ or alternative to prevention/ care of the person. Here are the insights.

The holistic approach is a vision that took shape in 1920 in which the philosopher Jan Smuts coined the term “holistic” from the Greek ólos, which stands for “totality” from which sprang a current of thought applied to various disciplines including medicine.

There are many holistic therapies, each with its own methods, but all are aimed at achieving the overall well-being of the person.

These include homeopathy, anthroposophic medicine, Ayurvedic medicine, homotoxicology and homeosinergia.

In holistic therapy there is a global vision of each individual with a general approach to health and whose goal is to restore balance and well-being of the patient in his physical-emotional totality without stopping at the treatment of the single symptom. It also pays particular attention to prevention, also understood as an improvement of lifestyle in order to rebalance their state of health both physically and mentally and spiritually.

In this section of the site, we dedicate all the attention to the concreteness of the holistic vision supported by the experience of D.ssa Filippa Arcuri, Dr. Maurizio Incorvaia and all the collaborators of the Antica Farmacia del Cinghiale.

The first physician to apply homeopathic principles in clinical practice was Samuel Hannemann in the early 1800s. Homeopathic treatments are based on fundamental principles that must be known in depth and applied according to experience. At the Pharmacy of the Wild Boar knowledge has depended on the desire to believe deeply in the project of combining unconventional care with traditional allopathic thus creating a special department where in addition to phytotherapy and herbal medicine, you could practice all the other holistic therapies.

Passionate and professionally well-qualified pharmacists have taken turns in recent years and, even today, the Wild Boar Pharmacy boasts a solid homeopathic tradition and not only: homeosinergia, Ayurvedic medicine and anthroposophic, homotoxicology, Bach floritherapy and Australian are some of the most important doctrines that are followed The particular and individual attention that characterize these therapeutic methods allow to create a special relationship between the pharmacist and the client, and if on the one hand it is a reason for professional growth.

It is important to remember that historically pharmacies (also the Ancient Wild Boar Pharmacy) have also been centers of medical-cultural comparison. Click for more information (about us).

The value of Anthroposophical medicine dates back to the 1920s, thanks to the eclectic personality of Rudolf Steiner, a current of thought and spiritual research is born that takes the name of anthroposophy or science of the spirit.

The particular scientific approach that is the basis of anthroposophy, has led to its application in other fields such as biodynamic agriculture, organic architecture, art and pedagogy Steineriana Waldorf.

Because “Anthropos” means Man and “Sophia” wisdom – together it results in the concept of wisdom from Man. Anthroposophic medicine is a holistic medicine that always considers the body, soul and spirit.

If official medicine starts from matter to reach man, Anthroposophic medicine starts from man to approach nature, life and science.

There is a German doctor who sought a more scientific and rigorous method to study the effect of homeopathic remedies. His name is Hans Heinrich Reckeweg and around the ’50s he applied research in biochemistry and physiology to find a meeting point with traditional medicine.

Thus was born the Homotoxicology or the study of “poisonous factors” (homotoxins) for man that determine the disease.

Reckeweg defines the organism as a dynamic flow continuously crossed by exogenous substances, as pathogenic microorganisms but also other toxic arising from the environment, food etc. and endogenous, those produced by cellular metabolism and catabolism.

When this happens, the body activates for the elimination of these homotoxins in order to restore balance.

The disease according to homotoxicology is therefore the reaction and activation of all the systems available to the body to detoxify and repair the damage caused by these toxins.

One of the oldest medical disciplines is Ayurveda. It originates in the Vedic India, from the transcription of the Vedas, the sacred texts, where it represents not only a medical practice but also, and above all, a philosophy, a lifestyle that includes nutrition, exercise, meditation, astrology, body care and beauty treatments, mind and spirit care and massage.

AYUR (ayus “longevity”, “lifespan”) VEDA (revealed knowledge) from Sanskrit translates as “the science of life”.

Ayurvedic medicine is a holistic medicine and as such takes care of the patient in all its aspects, physical, psychological, behavioral and environmental. The goal of Ayurveda is the treatment of the disease, understood as an imbalance of the fundamental components of physiology, but also that of prevention to be considered not simply as early diagnosis, but as a set of methods and habits aimed at promoting and strengthening the state of well-being and health.

Ayurvedic therapy uses over 9000 medicinal plants, prepared according to recipes that date back more than 2000 years.

Therefore Ayurveda is essentially an allopathic care system, curing it the imbalances of Doshas (they are the three main physiological factors that characterize each individual and that must be kept in balance) with their opposites.
